California Proposition 215 also known as the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 Health & Safety Code 11362.5 and SB420 allows qualified patients the legal use of Medical Cannabis. You will be given a letter of recommendation that the dispensary of your choice will honor. At OCMMES we have 24/7 verification available for your convenience.

To qualify for a recommendation you must schedule an appointment and provide the following documents:
A document signed by a California licensed health provider stating your qualifying diagnosis or medical condition. The primary care physician may be a medical doctor, acupuncturist, chiropractor, physical therapist, podiatrist, or another allied healthcare professionals.

Valid California identification includes either a California Drivers License or DMV issued I.D. card. Other types of identification, such as passports, are not accepted. If you do not have a drivers license please bring another current photo ID and proof of California residency (e.g.) utility bill, bank statement, phone bill, pay stub, car registration, etc.

Once approved, with the appropriate identification and medical documentation, you will receive a recommendation to use medical marijuana. This recommendation is valid through out the State of California. Your letter of recommendation will be signed by the physician; you will be given the original letter of recommendation, and if you lose your original we will supply you with a replacement at no charge.

The letter of recommendation allows you to purchase medicine from private dispensaries, allows you to legally possess, transport, and cultivate marijuana. Additionally, we provide 24 hour patient verification so law enforcement and dispensaries can confirm you are in fact a medical cannabis patient in good standing.

After arriving at the office, you will be presented with your patient intake forms.
It will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete the forms. After you complete the paperwork, you will then be introduced to the doctor.

The doctor will then discuss with you the medical condition for which you would like to use medical marijuana, and the treatment that you received for the condition until now.
You will receive a physical examination, which would be focused on the medical condition for which you would like to use medical marijuana. If the physician feels that further testing is necessary, the need for this testing will be explained in detail. If necessary, the physician may refer you to another doctor for a second opinion.

You will discuss with the doctor the documentation that you have brought that confirms your condition.  You will be able to discuss with the doctor how marijuana might work for your condition. If you qualify you will then receive your physician's recommendation for medicinal marijuana.

In order to evaluate your case properly, it is helpful to have medical records documenting:

  • A history of the problem for which you are seeking an evaluation, with proof of its chronic nature.

  • Proof that you have seen a physician in the last year for this condition and that someone is actively overseeing this condition.

  • The reason for this is that they can evaluate if this condition: a) has changed or progressed, b) has a new treatment or c) no longer exists.)
